David ben Solomon ibn Abi Zimra

David ben Solomon ibn Abi Zimra was a prominent Spanish-born rabbi who lived from 1479 to 1573. He was a key figure in the Jewish community, serving as a leading posek, or authority on Jewish law, as well as a rosh yeshiva, or head of a yeshiva, and chief rabbi. His expertise and leadership earned him great respect, and he became known by the acronym Radbaz, derived from the initials of his name.
Throughout his career, ibn Abi Zimra authored numerous scholarly works, including over 3,000 responsa, which are rulings on points of Jewish law.
