Els Bendheim

Els Bendheim was a Dutch Orthodox Jewish leader, born in 1923, who made significant contributions to her community. Although often associated with the field of art, her impact extended far beyond, as a philanthropist, theologian, and author. Her work reflected her deep commitment to Orthodox Jewish values and her desire to promote the development of Jewish institutions.

Throughout her life, Bendheim pursued various creative outlets, including photography, which allowed her to express her unique perspective. Her dedication to the Jewish community was formally recognized in 2002, when she was awarded the prestigious Yakir Yerushalayim prize. This honor acknowledged her tireless efforts to support and enhance Jewish institutions in Jerusalem. Els Bendheim passed away in 2023, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, creativity, and community service.
