Elana Maryles Sztokman

Elana Maryles Sztokman is a sociologist and writer who has made significant contributions to the fields of Jewish feminism and activism. Born in 1969, she has established herself as a prominent voice in exploring gender identity within the Jewish community. Her early works, which delved into this topic, garnered notable recognition, including the prestigious National Jewish Book Award.

In addition to her literary pursuits, Sztokman has been an active participant in Israeli politics. She was a founding member of the Kol Hanashim Women's Party and ran for a seat in the Knesset during the 2020 Israeli legislative election. Although her bid was unsuccessful, her commitment to advocacy and social change remains unwavering. Her more recent work, "When Rabbis Abuse," was honored with the Best Jewish Non-Fiction Award in 2022.
