Gordon Levett

Gordon Levett was a British Royal Air Force pilot who played a significant role in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. During this conflict, he participated in Operation Balak, a covert mission that involved flying supplies, including dismantled fighter planes, into the newly formed state of Israel. This endeavor was crucial in supporting the fledgling nation during a pivotal moment in its history. Levett's involvement in this operation marked the beginning of his association with the Israeli military.

Levett's commitment to the Israeli cause led him to join the first squadron of the Israeli Air Force, where he contributed to the establishment of a permanent military presence. As the only English gentile pilot in the Israeli Air Force, he rose through the ranks to achieve the position of lieutenant colonel. Through his efforts, Levett aided in the founding and development of the state of Israel. Notably, he is also the father of Blythe Masters, highlighting his personal legacy beyond his military and activist pursuits.
