Judah Alkalai

Judah Alkalai was a prominent Bosnian rabbi who lived from 1798 to 1878. As a Sephardic Jew, he played a significant role in a movement that was largely associated with Ashkenazi Jews. Alkalai's work as a rabbi was marked by his advocacy for the restoration of Jews to the Land of Israel, a cause that would become a central tenet of modern Zionism.
