Matthew Moss

Matthew Moss was a lawyer and politician who played a significant role in the Parliament of Western Australia. Born in New Zealand, he migrated to Western Australia in 1891 and went on to serve in the Legislative Assembly from 1895 to 1897. He later transitioned to the Legislative Council, where he had two non-consecutive terms, first from 1900 to 1901 and then from 1902 to 1914. During his tenure, Moss held ministerial positions in several governments, including those led by Alf Morgans, Walter James, and Hector Rason.

Moss's political career in Western Australia spanned nearly two decades, after which he relocated to England in 1914. Despite being based in England, he maintained strong ties with Australia and continued to contribute to Western Australian affairs. On two occasions, he served as Agent-General for Western Australia, demonstrating his enduring connection to the region.
