Ruzha Fuchs
Ruzha Fuchs was a Yiddish theater actress born in 1890 in Lwów, Poland. Initially, she began her career in a Polish-language theater, joining the chorus due to her limited proficiency in Yiddish. However, her talent and connections soon led to her transition into the Yiddish theater chorus, where she caught the attention of director Adolf Gimpel. He recognized her potential and cast her in a significant role, marking the beginning of her journey in Yiddish theater.
Fuchs' career gained momentum as she took on the role of a soubrette, performing in various locations including Rumania and Chernovets. Her charm and talent earned her the affectionate title of "der libling fun teater-oylem," or the darling of the theater world. After spending three years performing abroad, Fuchs returned to her hometown of Lwów, where she continued to build her reputation as a skilled Yiddish theater actress until her passing in 1942.
