Shamsi Hekmat
Iranian Jewish reformist (1917–1997)
Shamsi Hekmat was a prominent Iranian Jewish reformist, born in 1917, who dedicated her life to advancing women's rights in Iran. Her pioneering efforts led to the establishment of the first Iranian Jewish women's organization in 1947, a milestone that marked the beginning of a new era for women's empowerment in the country. Hekmat later migrated to the United States, where she continued her advocacy work.
