Zusha (band)
American Hasidic folk/soul band
Zusha is a distinctive American Hasidic folk/soul band hailing from Manhattan, New York. The group was formed in 2013 and features lead vocalist Shlomo Gaisin and guitarist/vocalist Zachariah Goldschmiedt. Their unique sound blends traditional Hasidic nigunim with a diverse range of musical styles, including folk, rock, soul, jazz, ska, and reggae. This eclectic blend has enabled the band to connect with a wide audience and establish a notable presence in the music scene.
Since their formation, Zusha has performed at various prominent venues, such as the Bowery Ballroom and the Knitting Factory. The band has also achieved significant chart success, with their self-titled debut EP reaching No. 9 on Billboard's World Albums chart in 2014, and their debut album Kavana reaching No. 2 on the same chart in 2016. Additionally, their music has been featured in various contexts, including film trailers and collaborations with other artists. Notably, their song "Pashut" was included in trailers for the 2017 film Menashe, and another song, "Yoel's Nigun", was sampled by rapper JID for his 2022 single "Dance Now".
