Solomon ben Judah of Lunel

Solomon ben Judah of Lunel, also known as Solomon Vives, was a philosopher from the Provençal region. At the age of 13, he demonstrated his intellectual prowess by composing a commentary on Judah ha-Levi's Cuzari under the guidance of his master, Frat Maimon. This commentary, titled Ḥesheḳ Shelomoh, showcases the young philosopher's impressive familiarity with the philosophical literature of his time.

The Ḥesheḳ Shelomoh, which remains extant in manuscript form, is a notable work that highlights Solomon's intellectual abilities from a young age. Additionally, a quotation within this commentary suggests that Solomon may have authored another work, a commentary on the Ruaḥ Ḥen, although he incorrectly attributed the original text to Samuel ibn Tibbon.
