Aaron Moses ben Mordecai
Aaron Moses ben Mordecai was a notable literary figure from East Prussia, recognized for his contributions to cabalistic writings. He authored a work titled "Nishmat Shelomoh Mordecai", a tribute to his son who passed away in early childhood. This publication features a commentary, although it was initially presented as an interpretation of M. Ḥ. Luzzatto's "Ḥoḳer u-Meḳubbal". The actual focus of Aaron's work, however, is a commentary on Ḥayyim Vital's "'Eẓ Ḥayyim", a foundational text of the Lurianic cabalistic school.
As a writer, Aaron Moses ben Mordecai sought to leverage the reputation of established authors to enhance the appeal of his own work, given the declining influence of the Cabala in Poland during his time. In addition to "Nishmat Shelomoh Mordecai", he claimed to have written a commentary on the Midrash Tanḥuma, titled "Zebed Ṭob", although this particular work remains unpublished. Through his literary endeavors, Aaron Moses ben Mordecai left a mark on the realm of cabalistic literature, with his published work serving as a testament to his scholarly pursuits.
