David Ben-Gurion

David Ben-Gurion was a pivotal figure in the establishment of the State of Israel, serving as its first prime minister. He held this position from 1948 to 1953 and again from 1955 to 1963, playing a central role in shaping the country's early years. Prior to Israel's independence, Ben-Gurion was a key leader in the Jewish community in Palestine, heading the Jewish Agency from 1935 and later becoming president of the Jewish Agency Executive.

As the de facto leader of the Jewish community in Mandatory Palestine, Ben-Gurion was instrumental in the movement for an independent Jewish state.
