Efraim Karsh

Israeli–British historian (born 1953)

Efraim Karsh is a historian of dual Israeli and British nationality, born in 1953. His academic expertise lies in the field of history, with a particular focus on the Middle East and Mediterranean regions. Karsh has held various prestigious positions throughout his career, including his role as the founding director and emeritus professor of Middle East and Mediterranean Studies at King's College London.

In addition to his affiliation with King's College London, Karsh has been a professor of political studies at Bar-Ilan University since 2013. He is also associated with the Middle East Forum, a think tank based in Philadelphia, where he serves as a principal research fellow and has previously held the position of director. Karsh is known for his critical stance on the New Historians, a group of Israeli scholars who have challenged the conventional narrative surrounding the Arab–Israeli conflict, indicating his active engagement in academic debates and discussions related to the region's history.
