Russian-born Brazilian Jewish artisan, photographer, and creator of ritual objects

Joseph Feldman was a versatile artist born in 1899 in Belarus, who later immigrated to Brazil. He developed a multifaceted career, excelling as an artisan, photographer, and antiquarian. Feldman's work spanned several decades, with a significant presence in Rio de Janeiro from the 1920s onwards. His artistic expertise encompassed various mediums, ultimately earning him recognition for his unique contributions to the field of art.

Feldman's most notable creations include intricately handcrafted hanukiot and other ceremonial objects, which showcased his skill and attention to detail. These ritual objects not only demonstrated his technical proficiency but also highlighted his connection to his Jewish heritage. Many of his pieces were later acquired by the Jewish Museum of Rio de Janeiro, forming the core of the Feldman Collection. Feldman passed away in 1978, leaving behind a legacy of beautifully crafted objects that continue to be appreciated for their cultural and artistic significance.
