Lester Cole
American screenwriter (1904–1985)
Lester Cole was a prominent American screenwriter who made significant contributions to the film industry. Born in 1904, Cole established himself as a talented writer, working on various projects throughout his career. Cole's career was, however, impacted by his refusal to testify before Congress regarding his alleged ties to the Communist Party. As one of the Hollywood Ten, a group of screenwriters and directors who were cited for contempt of Congress, Cole faced significant professional repercussions, including being blacklisted. Despite these challenges, Cole remained committed to his craft, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of film. He passed away in 1985, at the age of 81.
