Maria Forescu was a versatile performer, born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire to Romanian heritage. She pursued a career in the entertainment industry, showcasing her talents as an opera singer and film actress. Her work in the German cinema spanned the silent and talkies era, during which she took on various supporting roles in several films.

Forescu's professional life was significantly impacted by the rise of Adolf Hitler, as she was barred from practicing her profession due to her Jewish heritage. To escape persecution, she lived undercover during the latter years of World War II, ultimately surviving the Holocaust. After the war, Forescu settled in East Berlin, where she passed away in 1947, bringing an end to a life marked by both artistic expression and resilience in the face of adversity.
