Max Pollikoff

Max Pollikoff was a renowned American violinist, born in 1904, who left an indelible mark on the classical music scene. His career spanned multiple decades, with his first New York appearance taking place in 1923 at the Aeolian Hall, where he garnered critical acclaim as a promising young violinist. This initial success was a testament to his skill and artistry, showcasing his ability to interpret a wide range of compositions, including those by prominent figures such as Bach, Bruch, and Sarasate.

Throughout his lifetime, Pollikoff remained committed to promoting innovative and contemporary music. A notable achievement was the creation of the Music in Our Time Series at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, which played a pivotal role in commissioning and premiering numerous new works. This endeavor not only reflected his dedication to the advancement of classical music but also earned him recognition within the industry. In 1972, the American Music Center honored Pollikoff with a Letter of Distinction, acknowledging his contributions to the field.
