Moritz Landé

German architect

Moritz Landé was a German architect of Jewish descent, born in the Prussian Province of Posen to a family of merchants. His father, Löbel Landé, was a merchant from Ostrowo, and it was under the guidance of a private teacher at home that Landé initially received his education. He later pursued further training as a master mason in Breslau, laying the foundation for his future career in architecture.

Landé's path to becoming an architect was influenced by his uncle, Jacob Landé, who was also an architect and with whom he went to live at one point. In his personal life, Landé married Sophie Block in 1857, and together they had five children. One of their daughters, Thekla Landé, was born in 1864 and passed away in 1932. Through his work and personal connections, Moritz Landé contributed to the field of art, leaving his mark as a German architect of his time.
