Richard Blackwell, also known as Mr. Blackwell, was a multifaceted American figure, renowned for his work as a fashion critic, journalist, and television and radio personality. With a background in art, he explored various creative fields, including fashion design and acting, having started his career as a child actor. Blackwell's expertise in fashion led him to create the infamous "Ten Worst Dressed Women List", a highly anticipated annual presentation that garnered significant media attention.
In addition to his "Ten Worst Dressed Women List", Blackwell published other notable works, such as the "Fabulous Fashion Independents" list and an annual review of Academy Awards fashion. He also authored two books, "Mr. Blackwell: 30 Years of Fashion Fiascos" and his autobiography, "From Rags to Bitches". Throughout his 60-year partnership, Robert L. Spencer, a Beverly Hills hairdresser, served not only as his partner but also as his manager, supporting Blackwell's diverse pursuits in the fashion and entertainment industries.
