Scott Cowen is a renowned academic administrator and professor, born in 1946, with a specialization in the field of economics. His distinguished career has been marked by notable positions in esteemed institutions, including his tenure as the 14th president of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, from July 1998 to June 2014. During his time at Tulane, he also held the position of Seymour S. Goodman Memorial Professor in the A.B. Freeman School of Business and was a professor of economics in the School of Liberal Arts.
In addition to his work at Tulane, Cowen has held other prominent roles, including interim president of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, from 2020 to 2021. He currently serves as Distinguished Presidential Visiting Professor of Leadership and Management at Case Western Reserve University.
