Sergio Chejfec

Sergio Chejfec was a prominent Argentine Jewish writer, born in 1956 in the city of Buenos Aires. Throughout his career, he demonstrated versatility in his literary output, publishing a diverse range of works that included novels, essays, short stories, and a poetry collection, totaling eighteen books.

Chejfec's life and work took him to various locations, including Venezuela, where he resided from 1990 to 2005. During his time in Venezuela, he was involved in the publication of Nueva sociedad, a journal that focused on politics, culture, and the social sciences. Later, he moved to New York City, where he held a distinguished position as the Distinguished Writer in Residence in the M.F.A. Creative Writing program in Spanish at New York University, until his passing in 2022.
