Aaron Zorogon

Turco-Jewish scholar

Aaron Zorogon was a prominent Turco-Jewish scholar who made significant contributions to the field of literature. His work flourished around the mid-17th century, a period marked by rich cultural and intellectual activity. As a scholar, Zorogon demonstrated a deep understanding of Jewish texts and traditions, which is reflected in his writings.

Zorogon's most notable work is "Bet Aharon", a comprehensive collection of sixty homilies arranged according to the sections of the Pentateuch. The book also features insightful comments on the "'En Ya'aḳob," a haggadic collection compiled by Jacob Ḥabib. Although Zorogon did not live to see the publication of his work, his son Elihu ensured that "Bet Aharon" was published in Constantinople between 1678 and 1679, leaving a lasting legacy of his father's scholarly achievements.
