Anatol Stern

Polish poet, writer and art critic

Anatol Stern was a prominent figure in Polish literature, born on 24 October 1899 to a family of Jewish ancestry that had undergone assimilation. His educational background includes time spent at the University of Wilno, where he studied at the Polish Studies Faculty, although he did not ultimately graduate. This foundation in Polish studies would later influence his work as a poet, writer, and art critic.

Stern's career was marked by his involvement with various notable publications of his time. Between 1921 and 1923, he co-authored the monthly "Nowa Sztuka", showcasing his talent as a futurist poet. In addition to this, he collaborated with other esteemed art magazines, including Skamander, Tadeusz Peiper's Zwrotnica, and Wiadomości literackie. Through these contributions, Stern established himself as a significant voice among Polish futurist poets, leaving a lasting impact on the literary landscape.
