David Zakai

Israeli journalist (1886–1978)

David Zakai was a prominent Israeli journalist, born in 1886. He played a significant role in the country's early development as a member of the Second Aliyah, a wave of Jewish immigration to Palestine. In addition to his work in journalism, Zakai was also a dedicated educator, teaching Hebrew to others. His involvement in the community extended to leadership positions within the Histadrut, a major Zionist organization.

Zakai's career as a journalist and publicist spanned multiple decades, covering both the Yishuv era and the period following the establishment of the state of Israel. For 30 years after Israel's founding, he continued to work in the field, contributing to the country's literary and journalistic landscape. Throughout his life, Zakai remained committed to his work in literature and journalism, leaving a lasting impact on Israeli society. He passed away in 1978, at the age of 92.
