Else Berg
Dutch painter (1877–1942)
Else Berg was a Dutch painter of Jewish descent, born in Germany in 1877. Her artistic style and contributions are associated with the Bergense School, a notable art movement. As a painter, Berg's work reflected her unique perspective and skill, earning her recognition within the art world. In her personal life, she was married to Mommie Schwarz, a fellow Dutch painter, with whom she shared a deep connection through their shared passion for art.
Tragically, Else Berg's life was cut short during World War II. Along with her husband, Mommie Schwarz, she fell victim to the Holocaust, a devastating period of persecution and genocide. The couple's murder in 1942 was a loss not only to their loved ones but also to the art world, which was deprived of their future contributions. Despite the tragic circumstances of her death, Else Berg's legacy as a talented painter and her association with the Bergense School continue to be remembered and appreciated.
