Max Hermann Maxy was a Romanian artist of German-Jewish descent, born in 1895. Although often associated with the field of literature, his true profession lay in the visual arts, as a painter. This multifaceted individual also explored other creative avenues, making significant contributions to the world of art and design.

Throughout his career, Maxy held various prestigious roles, including that of an art professor and scenographer. His work as a professor allowed him to share his knowledge and expertise with future generations of artists. As a scenographer, he applied his artistic vision to the design of theatrical productions. Maxy's life and work spanned several decades, coming to a close in 1971, at the age of 76.
