Sigmund Mogulesko was a prominent figure in the Yiddish theatre, born in 1858 in Kalarash, Bessarabia. His early life was marked by a strong connection to music, as he began singing in his local synagogue choir. Mogulesko's talent was quickly recognized, and he was soon in high demand, earning a substantial income for his singing services. By the time he was a young adolescent, he was earning nearly three times the salary of local teachers, a testament to his exceptional vocal abilities.
Mogulesko's career spanned multiple disciplines, including singing, acting, and composition. He went on to perform in various venues, including synagogues and churches, after moving to Bucharest, Romania. Eventually, he made his way to New York City, where he became a key figure in the Yiddish theater scene. With a career that encompassed multiple facets of the performing arts, Mogulesko left a lasting impact on the world of Yiddish theater, until his passing in 1914.
